A hydroseeding contractor will put an end to your erosion worries. Hydroseeding is one of the quickest ways to establish a lawn and it is an ideal method of erosion control. You can expect your hydroseeded area to start growing grass within about seven days. By about three to four weeks your hydroseeded area will be fully established.
The First Fourteen Days After You Hydroseed
Once the hydroseeding contractor does their part, the responsibility is left to you, to care for your landscaping. The first fourteen days are the most critical time for your newly hydroseeded area. You DO NOT want to water your hydroseed for the first 24 hours.
Your hydroseeding contractor has laid down the perfect combination of mulch, fertilizer, and seed and it needs to settle; therefore, it is important to avoid watering your lawn for the first day.
You will water your hydroseeded area every day after the first day for fourteen days (unless it rains). Once the fourteen-day period has passed, you can move to an every other day schedule as the weather in your area requires.
Use a Sprinkler
It is important that you use a sprinkler instead of dragging a hose around the area. Dragging a hose around the hydroseeded area can inadvertently pull up the hydroseed mixture.
Redirect Downspouts
Be sure that you redirect downspouts so that they are not pointed directly at the hydroseeded area. Any runoff should be diverted in a different direction.
Fertilizing Your Hydroseed
Your hydroseeding contractor applied fertilizer to the seed but you will need to reapply a good fertilizer about 21 days after the initial installation. Choose a good fertilizer for your region to get the best results.
Mowing Your Hydroseeded Lawn
When your grass reaches two to three inches high it is time to mow. Letting grass get too long can cause the grass to become stressed. Use a mower with sharp blades to ensure you cut the grass evenly.
